All About Disney After Hours (And 5 Reasons Why You Should Be Doing This!!!)
Disney After Hours is a special ticketed event that is currently being offered at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. This means tickets must be purchased separately from standard park tickets. Only a very limited number of tickets are sold for Disney After Hours, making crowds extremely low and wait times short (or non-existent)! The event is offered on select nights only. It officially begins when the park closes (usually at 9pm or 10pm) and ends at either 12am or 1am, depending on the time of year it takes place. Although the event doesn’t officially begin until park closing, guests are usually allowed to enter the park at 7pm. Now the big question: Why should you attend??? 1.) No lines! The biggest reason why Disney After Hours is so amazing is there are little to no lines. We walked onto every ride when we attended and were able to ride most every ride in the park at least once. Walking onto Seven Dwarfs Mine Train three times in a row was pretty amazing!
2.) Meet characters! Its’ not all about the short lines for rides: there are characters there as well! You can currently find Mickey and Minnie, Tinker Bell, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, Jasmine and Ariel at her Grotto. Having a daughter myself, meeting the princesses was high on her priority list and not having to wait in long lines to meet them was fantastic. Not only that, but characters are able to take more time with you since there aren’t many (if any) people waiting behind you. 3.) Your trip is short: Have a limited number of days for your trip and worried you won’t get everything done that you want? Strongly consider After Hours. What you can get done during these few short hours can often equal one to two days of “regular” park time.
4.) You want to avoid heat and/or crowds. We all know that Disney World can often be hot and crowded; two things that keep most away and sends kids (and even adults!) into meltdowns. Spend the heat of the day relaxing at the pool and then head to After Hours when it’s cooled off.
5.) You love snacks! Who doesn’t love “free” snacks? Snacks like Mickey Bars and Micky Ice Cream Sandwiches, popcorn, sodas and bottled water are included in the price of your admission. Have your fill of snacks while you ride all of the rides? Yes please!
