Virtual Queue UPDATE for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is arguably one of the most popular attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort. Those who have visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios know that getting a virtual boarding pass can seem like winning a lottery ticket. Since opening in December of 2019, the Virtual Queue has received quite a bit of criticism. At times, it felt like there are countless hoops to jump through to try to get a boarding pass. As soon as the park officially opens within seconds you hear cheers and cries throughout the park - instantly knowing who did and who did not receive a boarding pass. Hopefully this stressful start to the day will be a thing of the past, because Disney has announced a new approach they will be testing for the Virtual Queue!
You no longer need to be inside the theme park!
Starting at 7am on the day of your Park Reservation for Hollywood Studios, you will have access to the virtual queue and look for boarding pass availability. This can be done from the comfort of your resort hotel room or wherever else nearby you may be at that time. Again at 2pm, you will also have the same opportunity to join the virtual queue and look for boarding pass availability.
The virtual queue is only accessible via the My Disney Experience mobile app. To maximize your opportunity to secure a boarding group, here are some tips we recommend you check off your list prior to your day at the park:
Register an account in My Disney Experience
Download the My Disney Experience mobile app on your smart device or ensure you’re using the most updated version of the app before you arrive at the park.
Link and assign all park tickets in your party to a My Disney Experience account
Have a valid Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the day you’re visiting
Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue for everyone in your group; if multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may complicate your ability to secure a boarding group
Remember, virtual queue boarding groups are limited and subject to availability
